Patriotism, Americanism and respect

“Barack Obama is like a baby robin.  His mouth is always open and he is full of it.”             Bob Tait on twitter

A response to my tweet accused me of being “disrespectful, unpatriotic and un-American.”

I have been advised to never get in a spitting contest with a cobra but I see a wonderful opportunity to clarify my definition of respect, patriotism and Americanism.

1.  Respect is earned.  This president has not earned my respect nor the respect of 62% of other American voters and the number who disrespect him is growing. Although one of the most eloquent and charismatic politicians in my memory, he manages to extract defeat out of the jaws of victory almost on a daily basis.  This man cannot take a position without waffling it away when he discovers that the world does not bow down when he speaks.   He is the master of drawing red lines in the sand with disappearing ink.  His policies continue to stifle the survival of the greatest economic machine the world has ever known.  His blatant pandering to race baiters and hate mongers have divided America and returned it to a level not known since Dr. Martin Luther King successfully broke the back of the George Wallace and Byron De La Beckwith hate machines.  This president cares not about our southern borders.  His blocking of access to the truth in the Fast and Furious executive order protecting Eric Holder demonstrates a blatant disregard for transparency in his administration, the most secretive in history.  And the list goes on.  No, the man has not earned my respect.

2.  The dictionary definition of a patriot is “one who loves his or her country.”  I love this country and the freedoms it provides as established by the framers of the constitution.  Obama has systematically accomplished his pledge that he would “fundamentally transform” the United States of America. He blatantly and stubbornly clings to an Ideology of pacifism   We are more divided along racial and poverty lines than ever before.  We have lost the confidence of the world as a country who can lead in protecting freedom wherever it may be.  We are looked at as a country who can no longer be trusted as a leader in the free world.  Countries that we have looked to for generations as allies in protecting liberty and freedom anywhere in the world no longer have the confidence to stand with us for fear that our president will waffle when the flow of the battle does not meet his ideological and political agenda.  Our economic machine has been severely injured with a REAL double digit unemployment rate. He touts a lowering unemployment rate by hiding the fact that millions of Americans have simply given up looking for work. I am an American in Ideology.  Barack Obama is not.   I am a patriot.  Barack Obama is not.  We are rapidly becoming a second rate nation through attempts by the Obama administration to implement age old social policies that have failed and failed and failed again.  As Winston Churchill penned “The only redeeming virtue of Socialism is the equal sharing of misery.”
